It was the episode I disliked the most - and I was the one who pitched it. At first I thought it'd be cool because of all the different things an alternate universe episode would allow me to do but in the end it was that aspect that turned me off.

In the end, I didn't like that nothing I did in this episode mattered. For the most part this episode forshadowed the rest of the season and that's all it really did. As much as I'd love to go into details, I'd rather not spoil you.

One thing which was fun was that I got to include the Atauians (originally the Steruc, who you'll see next week :-P). So far, no-one seems to have picked up on the Atauians being back. They were in "I Think, Therefore...".

Anyway, with 1x15 we finished our third quarter. I think it's fantastic, my episode ended the third quarter and another of mine will start the fourth. That's quality entertainment. I think our comeback from our looooonnnnnggggggg hiatus has been excellent. "The Vennix" was an excellent return which also spread out new story branches. "What's In A Name" was a lovely Destiny debut for Harry Martin who provided us with an entertaining stand alone episode.

And of course, "Lonely Echoes". I think I'll take a moment to brag about that. I'm so glad that people loved it, it was the sort of script that made me really love writing. Not only was it enjoyable but it got tones of feedback and that made me smile. And of course, Adrian Curtis, a fan favorite returned with "Belly of the Beast" another of those Malecathi episodes he so often writes.

Overall, the third quarter was fantastic and our second half has been so much stronger than the first, not only because we've learnt the ropes but because of the sort of storytelling you'll notice popping up once the season ends. We've managed to interlink alot of the episodes throughout the season which I really think helps bring the episodes together. It gives it that connected feel that Atlantis and DS9 had.

I'm dying to spoil the fourth quarter for you but Boss would kill me. Just look forward to enjoying Josh's debut episode and Adrian's whumping heavy episode. This is Aaron Percival, signing off.

Long time...

...No see. I know, it's been a while but here I am, back to tell you all about the upcoming episodes of Stargate Destiny. First off, I'd like to appologise for the really long hiatus. It took alot longer than we thought it would to get the episodes done, plus we had other real life commitments and so such. But I'm really happy to say that our third quarter is complete with the 4th well underway.

For those who have yet to see our schedule listing, here it is:

September 5th, 2006
1x11 - The Vennix
By Geoff Hill

September 12th, 2006
1x12 - What's in a Name
By Harry Martin

September 19th, 2006
1x13 - Lonely Echoes
By Aaron Percival

September 26th, 2006
1x14 - Belly of the Beast
By Adrian Curtis

October 3rd, 2006
1x15 - The Wings of a Butterfly
By Aaron Percival

October 10th, 2006
1x16 - Orion Twilight
By Aaron Percival

October 17th, 2006
1x17 - Lifeline
By Geoff Hill

October 24th, 2006
1x18 - Unsung Heroes
By Harry Martin and Joshua Achiam

October 31st, 2006
1x19 - Weakness
By Adrian Curtis

November 6th, 2006
1x20 - Alliances, Part One
By Geoff Hill

I thought it'd be nice to come here and tease you about the upcoming episodes. We start back this coming Tuesday with Geoff's episode, The Vennix. I have to say, I'm glad he had troubles with this episode. And by troubles, I mean he couldn't condence the script so you guys are in for a nice 110 page treat on Tuesday.

I'm afraid I can't say much about What's In A Name as I haven't read it all. But I can certainly do some self pimping with Lonely Echoes. I had such a blast writing it. It's heavily character orientated and we even see an old SG-1 friend. Adrian comes back with another Malecathi episode, The Belly of the Beast. Might we be seeing a special Malecathi we saw before in 1x06?

And finally, The Wings of a Butterfly. An interesting episode that is filled to the brim with action. All this and more coming soon, to an internet site near you. :-) I hope you're all excited for this. We certainly are!

Until next time.

Hello

So, you all might be wondering. Who is this Harry Martin that EAG talked about earlier. Well, I am hin, or he is me. Anyways, I am writing two episodes this season for Destiny. The first Episode which is called, "What's in a name" Was not an idea that I pitched. It was what I was given when I joined the crew. The episode story was hammered out once I was given the taks of writing it, but the core of the story stays the same. The second, and final episode I am going to write this season is called "Unsung Hero's," All though I really can't tell you much I will tell you this. It is going to be good. Real good. I pitched the idea orginally as an S2 idea, but we need a light episode in S1, so "Unsung Hero's" was put in S1.

Now, you may wonder who I am not what I write. Well, I am Captain Pash or Harry Martin. There are probably a few other names I would answer, but those two will suffice for now. I was born in Tronto, Canada. (No it is not the capital of Canada). I do currently live in the bush ridden country that is america, but I hav no plans of staying for long.

So, now onto what you people really want. Spoilers. Everyone wants them. So far EAG has done a great job with 1x13, and I am going ot say this it is long real long, at the moment so except a little featurette with deleted scene's because he is going to have kill some stuff even if it is great. Alliances Part 1 is going to be good from the sound of the story so far, and my two eps have some real Pash moments in them. Though please bear with me as I try to get used to how to write these characters. It might take a while, but I will get it.

Anyways, I have ramble on long enough. I hope you enjoyed my spoilers, and the little information I gave you. Untill next time.

Long Time, No Post

Well guys, it's been a while since this blog as updated. But that's only because we've been so busy behind the scenes. Actually, that's a lie. All we've been doing it having a big party. You see Geoff has gone and done the craziest thing. He brought a yaht and you know the international waters laws...anything goes. Well Geoff and Adrian have some crazy hobbies....ok, I lied. The truth is, we are busy behind the season.

The first half of season one has finished. A couple of weeks ago in fact. After a rocky start, we've started to find our bearings and the fans to go with the stories. In fact, we've even managed to make a fan out of Lt. Colonel Ryu Gaia, one of the toughest readers to please. Our second quarter was full of strong episodes, which include fan favorites. It's very evident, to the writers as well as the readers than we're improving and greatly for that matter.

We're currently in our mid-season hiatus, which is giving us the chance to write the next set of episodes before we release them. Don't worry though, we will have some awesome gifts for you while you wait. Can anyone say CG images? Tommy, a fantastic CG artist happened across the site and volunteered to help us out. So far we have an F307 model which is just being touched up, and an Onslaught Cruisers which is in developement. Expect to see some of those soon.

Titles and synopsis' have been released for the 3rd quarter, as well as titles for the 4th quarter. For those who haven't seen them:

111-The Vennix
With the majority of the Destiny's crew trapped on what they had believed to be a paradise planet, the remaining crew onboard the Destiny must find a way to take back the ship. But it is on the planet that the rest of the crew learns a secret about the people who stole the ship.
Written by Geoff Hill

112-What's In A Name
Arriving on a planet embroiled by a religous war, Orion-1's Puddlejumper is shot down when trying to get in for a closer look. However, when they crash, the team is separated, and taken by the two warring sides.
Written by Harry Martin

113-Lonely Echoes
The Destiny arrives in a solar system with the intent to test out a new energy based weapon on the asteroids that fill the system. However, when the weapon malfunctions, one of the observing X09 is left damaged and adrift.
Written by Aaron Percival

114-Belly of the Beast
A salvage operation discovers a crashed Malecathi cruiser. When Orion-1 goes to investigate they find a powerful creature lurking in the ships depths, and must find a way to escape before one of their own is lost.
Written by Adrian Curtis

115-The Wings of a Butterfly
An attack on the Destiny leaves General Barrows dead and Colonel Hemmingway in a coma from the attack. Waking up, Hemmingway finds herself in the middle of a choas torn vessel with many dead. Not only that, but she also finds she has a strange new ability.
Written by Aaron Percival

116-Lifeline
Written by Geoff Hill

117-Unsung Heroes
Written by Harry Martin

118-Orion Twilight
Written by Aaron Percival

119-Weakness
Written by Adrian Curtis

120-Alliances, Part One

There we are. I think I'll just talk a little about the upcoming episodes. Geoff is finishing off the mid-season 2 parter with "The Vennix". We get introduced into a new enemy, how cool? "What's In A Name" is written by our new staff writer, Harry Martin. He herolds from over at SG Genesis. He's set to write two episodes this season, "What's In A Name" and "Unsung Heroes", an episode which he pitched.

Adrian will be writing "Belly of the Beast", another Malecathi related episode. Adrian seemed to have been labeled out Malecathi guy since he has done some the more popular episodes which revolve around the Malecathi.

I'll be writing two episodes this quarter, both of which I pitched. "Lonely Echoes" is a very character orientated episode. And I mean very. Flashbacks, for two characters. You'll be getting lots of character development in that episode. Also, who can say guest appearance by Richard Dean Anderson? I'm about half way through this episode.

"The Wings of a Butterfly", as been guessed will be an AU episode. I pitched it way back when I first joined the series, and it's gonna be fun, but also quite tricky.

Onto a personal note. Just watched Mr and Mrs Smith which I borrowed off a fabulous and sexy friend. I've become addicted to a series called My Name is Earl. Thats on the "to-buy list". But that's all for now really. Keep reading. Elite Anubis Guard.

PS-Oh and Esquin says hi.

Well...long time

I know, it's been quite a long time since Geoff or I actually posted here. We've been busy with writing and various other things. Don't worry though, I'm back and here to talk. So basically, Destiny has been out for a month and a half now. We're currently in the first quarter hiatus. So before I talk about the new episodes, hows about I talk about the old ones? How do ya think that sounds?

Well "Providence" opened to some varried criticism. Some liked it, some didn't. There has been quite a bit of positive reactions to the episode, but also negative. The negative however is being taken into account as Geoff will be re-released "Providence" (I think) later on during the mid-season hiatus with new edits. "Friendly Fire" followed after. Reactions to this were not many, but good. This episode had some interesting impliciations for Hemmingway and was a nice stand alone episode.

"Behemoth", written by Adrian Curtis was quite a ride of an episode. Reader reaction to this has been amazing. Practically everyone who commented on this loved it. It is IMO the best episode of the first four (Five really). It has the smartest and definetly unpredicatable conclusion to the episode and was also a fantastic episode which showed this is also a ship based series so expect ship episodes.

My episode, "Treasure Trove" was the last to air. I have enjoyed reading the reactions to this, they mostly seem positive. But will we see the Faerek again? Who knows. Just be sure to keep reading.

We (Geoff, Adrian and myself) are all hard at work on our next set of episodes. I am currently somewhere near the end of the 3rd act of "The Farm" which is currently slated for 1x08. It's another dark episode which I am really enjoying writing. Look for another Tenyris/Morgami moment. Adrian is working on "Lost But Not Forgotten". I haven't read much, but from what I read of the outline, it's gonna be an interesting episode.

Geoff's current endevour has me foaming at the mouth. He is currently writing "I Think, Therefore...". It is looking to be his best episode and is a fantastic episode. I really can't wait to read this one in its entirety. Myself and Geoff will also be writing 1x09, "Pathogen", which is now being outlined.

We've also been having problems with the website. Bandwidth problems to be exact. Seems we have more viewers than I thought. Geoff will be upgrading our host soon so we'll have lots more bandwidth. Not only this, but I'll also be able to add new features to the website, including a Wikipedia. Yay.

We've been releasing concept art over the last couple of weeks as well. We've got some really cool artwork for the F308 and the Malecathi. Look for more when the website comes back online. Phil, our concept artist, should be hard at work on a Destiny one now. So look forward for some CG images soon.

Well I guess I'll move onto the personal stuff now. I just finished reading the Season 2 finale of Star Trek Frontiers. That was pretty dam awesome. Quite an amazing series with really awesome ideas. I've also been reading other Trek virtual series such as Discovery. It isn't as good as Frontiers, but it's only been out a couple of weeks and has 2 episodes out (3 if you count the pilot as 2). Don't fret though, I'm not an entire Trekkie, I've also been reading Gods. All these are worth checking out.

I'm just re-reading some Horizon while I wait for them to come back off of the mid-season hiatus. Why am I complaining? Being a fan since the start, I should be used to hiatus' by now. I certainly remember the murderous mid-season hiatus in Season 1, that almost killed my.

Well I think that's it for now. No, actually, I'm going for my college interview tomorrow. I'm applying for a media course, so I've gotta talk down some work of mine from Destiny. Wish me luck.

Until next time, Aaron Percival.

New Website and Forum Online!

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I posted here last, but I figured I would since I'm on break.

I just wanted to let people know that the official Stargate: Destiny website is now online, along with a new forum! The URL for the site is www.stargatedestiny.net and the forum is www.stargatedestiny.net/forum. So, check out the site and register at the forum!

In other news... I recently did an interview regarding SGD at www.sg-universe.net, which is one of the sites where SGD is advertised. It covers a wide range of topics including this season's episodes, the production crew, the enemy of the series and much more. Remember, the premiere for SGD is on the 17th of January!! Dont miss it. We have just about four episodes finished, with another one nearing completion. I personally can't wait. We also recieved word from one Aaron Marshall, who has taken time to compose a main theme for Stargate: Destiny! It is not yet sure when this will be available, but it will most likely be several weeks.

I recently saw King Kong, and I absolutely loved it! It ran a little long, but hey, it's fine. The graphics were just fantastic. All four big movies by Peter Jackson... masterpieces in my book. In SGH things, I recently read episode 2.11 "The Devil to Pay". This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire show as of yet, and I can't wait for the conclusion, "The Chamber". Good series, that Stargate: Horizon is.

I am practically exploding with anticipation for the new episodes of SG-1, SG:A and BSG that will air on January 6th! And in exactly two weeks, season 5 of 24 airs on Fox!!! Gah, this is a great month, especially with the SGD premiere on the 17th and all.

Ok, well, that's all I know. I'll keep you posted,
Geoff

At last! The Release Schedule!

Well, the big news around Project Stargate Universe and the SGD forums has been the the schedule for the first half of the Stargate: Destiny season one! It is as follows:

17/01/06 - Providence (Movie Length)
24/01/06 - Friendly Fire
31/01/06 - Behemoth
07/02/06 - Treasure Trove

14/02/06 - One Week Hiatus

21/02/06 - Lost, but not Forgotten
28/02/06 - I Think, Therefore…
07/03/06 - The Farm
14/03/06 - Pathogen
21/03/06 - Trouble in Paradise (Part 1 of 2)

So, in just about a month and a half, we will premiere with the episode "Providence", which will be equivalent to a two hour episode, much like SG: Atlantis' "Rising" and SG: Horizon's "Awakening". Just a note, if you haven't already looked at your calendar, episodes of Stargate: Destiny will air on Tuesdays at 6pm GMT, which is 1pm EST and 10am MST.

Our website has been designed, but we wont make it public until about three to four weeks before the premiere. Also, after episode 1.10, there will be a 4-6 week hiatus.

Anyway, I just thought I should bring any readers here up to speed with this announcement.

Geoff

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://stargatedestiny.blogspot.com/2005/12/at-last-release-schedule.html' title='At last! As you all know, Terminus left the SGD staff several weeks back, as EAG mentioned in the last article here. But no sooner than he left, did we get another crew member, followed by another! Our first addition to the team is Brian, who is known on the forum as Samuels. He is our newest writer, and will be writing episode 1.06, as well as edit several other episodes. The second addition to the team is Phil, who, on the forum, is known as Disarray. He's our newest concept artist, bringing our art department to two people! His first project is a technical drawing and action shot of one of the fighters that will be seen throughout the series: the F-308 Space Superiority Fighter.

In other news, I recently spoke with Adrian (esquin), and he will be finishing episode 1.04, but doesn't plan to write any more episodes, but would like to stay on the team as an advisor and idea pitcher. EAG will be doing some more work on 1.05 this weekend, and so far, it looks to be a very interesting episode. I myself have been going over 1.01, and have been making some great progress on 1.02. I'm currently on page 53, and I really like how it's turning out!

As far as other, personal things, I recently purchased the DVD of Star Wars: Episode III, and I've watched it about 10 times now :) . Although it will probably mean very little to most of you, I am now sitting concertmaster (first chair) of the orchestra I play in (the Portland Metropolitan Youth Symphony), and I must say, I rather like it. Just think... if I had that position in the New York Philharmonic, I'd be making close to $500,000 a year.

Well, not much else going on, but I must say, that SGD has made tremendous progress over the past few weeks, and currently, we are aiming for a release in early January. Once I finish up 1.02 here, I'll begin on 1.03 (that's a no-brainer), and then we'll have started or finished episodes 1.01 - 1.06!

Well, time for me to be signing off, but until then...

Geoff

Long time....

...no see. Sorry there have been no posts in a while, but Geoff has been busy and I forgot I could post here. Well I thought I'd bring us all upto date on whats been happening behind the scenes at everyones most anticipated series, Stargate Destiny.

Unfortunetly, one of our staff writers, Terminus upped and left. He left the community as well, due to family issues among other things. Here is his goodbye to us all:

"I'm pulling away from the StarGate fanfiction community as of this date - there's a lot of stuff going on in my life at the moment that I'm struggling to get a handle on and I need to figure out how to cope with that before I can reimmerse myself back in fanfiction circles.

I apologise to many of you for this - but it is necessary. I've just been very depressed lately and I need to sort myself out"

While it does set one of our episodes back, we are sad to see Terminus go, and we wish him the best of luck in wherever he ventures next. But onto a brighter side, Samuels joined us as a proof-reader, and maybe writer. This was to fill in the void left by Terminus, as he was also the series' proof-reader and an editor along side myself.

Erm, well, onto myself. Unfortunetly I hadn't got around to writing too much of 1x05 - Treasure Trove lately due to writing Valiant, the sixth episode of the fully running Stargate virtual series, Stargate Horizon. But since that has now been released, I'm back to work on Treasure Trove. It's a pretty interesting episode actually. The Destiny crew find a planet with an abandoned ancient city on it, a really trashed and wrecked city. Of course, our heroes suspect the shows bad guys, the Malecathi, did this but.....well, I'll just let you wait.

There is a few interesting moments in that episode, what would be really cool shots and a funny Jonas moment. This episode deals with how the situation in this new galaxy effected the Alterans that travelled there. It's something I don't think we've seen before on Stargate, to see some an advance race turn to such intense and unlikely measures. Anyway, I've send to much. Onto other things.

Providence (Part One) is soon to be entering editing. Samuels is going to be going through it, making sure everything is correct and spelt properly. After that comes the removal of scenes, and changing of dialogue and such things. Not that anything needs to be removed. It's just some scenes are too long, too much detail or iffy dialogue here or there.

Geoff is working hard on the second part of Providence. Unfortunetly it's been a bit tight due to personal lifes, but with a release date in 2 months, we're now cracking on to get everything done. I haven't heard from Esquin, but he's really have fun with Behemoth, which is going to be a fantastic and big episode...involving asteroids.

There has also been a chance in our cast. We previously had Catherine Bell as Col. Hemmingway. It has just recently been decided to change that actress to Evangeline Lilly. She plays the character, Kate, on the hit show Lost. Which I might add, I have recently gotten around to watching. I got the first part of the first season on DVD. It only just recently came out on DVD in the UK.

So anyway, that's all from me for the moment. Be sure to drop by our forums and have a look around: http://stargatedestiny.proboards55.com/index.cgi

Changes, changes, changes...

First off, don’t worry that this isn’t a “Part-Two” to the Evolution of Stargate Destiny. I’ll be making that article soon enough. In the meantime, I thought I’d update you guys on a couple changes…

Now, about three weeks ago, we came to the conclusion that the Caelum Galaxy is not a real galaxy. This presented a problem, obviously, so we embarked on a quest (oh yes, a quest) to find a new galaxy in which our series would be set. So, after a couple of days of thinking, we had narrowed it down to the Andromeda Galaxy or the Phoenix Galaxy. I wasn’t really happy with either of these, mostly because they were too close to the Milky Way. Too close? They’re millions and millions of light years away! Well, I decided that they were too close because one: it currently takes the Daedalus 18 days to travel between our galaxy and Pegasus galaxy, a rough distance of 3.2 million light years. For our show, we want the travel time between our galaxy and the one it takes place in to be about nine weeks, not tow and a half. And two, since our show is set ten years in the future, we would assume that hyper drive technology has advanced a great deal. So, through some calculations, which I’d rather not go into, we decided that our galaxy should be about 15 million light years from our own. Plus, since the hyper drive tech on the Destiny would be more advanced that on the Daedalus, we threw in an extra five million light years, just for good measure, bringing the distance to the Stargate: Destiny galaxy to approximately 20 million light years. The thing is, we really don’t know much of any galaxies that exist 20 million light years away. So we made up our own galaxy.

I have to admit, I rather like the fact that show takes place in galaxy we created ourselves. But we still needed a name. Then it hit me… the Orion Galaxy! It sounded so good! So, the Orion Galaxy was our new set, twenty million light years away from home, and nine weeks away for the Destiny crew.

Another change that I have not updated anyone on is how we use the Stargate on the Destiny. In one of my previous posts called “Stargate on a Ship”, I said that we would make it so that the Ancients gave each Stargate its own address, rather than giving a planet an address. This way, it wouldn’t matter where the gate was, even if it was on a ship, or in the middle of deep space. Well, that all changed a long time ago, actually. Now, I’m afraid I can’t really go into how we can use the Stargate on the Destiny, because it would give away spoilers into the Ancient backstory we’ve developed, but I can say that the process involves using a device in conjunction with a DHD. We find several of these devices in the pilot episode.

Well, I think those are the big two changes that we’ve made in the past weeks, but don’t worry, we change little things all the time. I would also like to post an updated episode list, and with them are the names of the writers working on them:

1.01 Providence, Part 1 - Geoff Hill
1.02 Providence, Part 2 - Geoff Hill
1.03 Friendly Fire - Geoff Hill
1.04 Behemoth - Adrian C. (Esquin)
1.05 Treasure Trove - Aaron P. (Elite Anubis Guard)

Also, I think I can give out the names of the mid season cliffhanger episodes:

1.10 Trouble in Paradise, Part 1
1.11 The Vennix, Part 2

They don’t really give that much insight into the plot, like the first few episodes, but hey. I really like what we’ve worked out for them, and I think it’ll be a great two-parter. Seeing that they are episodes 1.10 and 1.11, and they divide the season into halves, you might just be able to guess that we’re planning for 20 episodes this season, which end with a two-part finale. I won’t give anything away on the finale episodes, but I love them.

In other news, the Stargate: Horizon season two finale is less than a week away, and I can barely keep it together. Can’t wait to see what the premiere holds. Just finished my first week as a sophomore in high school, and I can’t say it’s that bad, but I shouldn’t get my hope up.

Unfortunately, as the school year starts, the time we have for writing is reduced a bit, but hopefully we’ll be able to compensate. Anyway, hope everyone is doing ok, and be sure to check out the official SGD forum at http://stargatedestiny.proboards55.com/index.cgi.

As always,
Geoff

The Evolution of Stargate Destiny, Part 1

Some fans of SGD reccomended that I do a post like this, and start a series explain how Stargate: Destiny came from what it was nearly a year ago, and what it is now. I'm not sure how many parts this will consist of, but there will be at least one more. Hope you enjoy it.

The first recognizable idea for Stargate: Destiny was conceived late in the summer of 2004. At this time, there was no plan to make it into a series, and it didn’t really even have a name. It was basically just a very, very rough idea for a ship-based series. As summer turned into fall, it began to slowly develop, and even got a name, although it was quite cheesy: Stargate: The Caelum Chronicles. Having compared notes from back then, and notes from the current Stargate: Destiny, it can clearly be seen that there are HUGE differences between then and now.

For instance, the original name for the ship in Stargate: The Caelum Chronicles was known as the Dauntless, and was basically an X-303. The series would’ve taken place in 2006 instead of 2015. It would’ve focused around General Barrows, the ship’s commanding officer, Major Fischer, the team leader, Daniel Jackson, who was soon replaced with Jonas, Tenaulos, an alien guide, and some other characters that I don’t even remember. After much criticism on GateWorld Forum, I decided to change a few things. For one, I changed the ship’s name to the Infinity, and changed the series name to fit the ship. With that, I had Stargate: Infinity. But with another post on GateWorld, I learned that there already had been a show known as Stargate: Infinity. This show was apparently not very good, and was animated. After learning this, I decided to once again change the name of the series, for fear that it would be confused with the already-existing Stargate: Infinity. But thing was, I didn’t really have another good name, so I changed it to a series with no name. Also for some reason, I decided to use three ships instead of one, with a total crew of close to 1000. These three ships were the Infinity, the lead battleship, the Prophecy, a science vessel, and the Destiny, a carrier.

In November of 2004, I found out about Stargate: Horizon, which was the first great virtual series that was made by a group of SG-1 fans. I thought it was really cool how SGH used actual scripts that were as long as the ones used for real episodes. As soon as the first episode premiered, I was hooked. It wasn’t long after that I started thinking, “What if I could do the same thing for my series, which doesn’t yet have a name?” It was a dream, but with only myself working on the project, it would’ve been darn near impossible to produce an entire series. Instead of going on and starting to write scripts, I really got to revising all of my ideas. At the time, I knew there were plenty of holes in my series without a name, so I set out on a quest to actually make the series sound believable.

So, looking forward to the Stargate: Horizon season 2 premire this month... and I got two pretty cool presents for my birthday: A 1GB Jump Drive and the DVD of Master and Commander. But I didn't get any checks from my team members, though...

Anyway, hope all goes well, and until next time,

Geoff

Another Update on Our Progress...

Hey there everyone, I realize it’s been a while since either EAG or I made a post here, so I’m here just to give another update on out progress with Stargate: Destiny.
Just lately, I finished the first draft of “Providence, Part 1”, which is the first part of the SGD pilot. I think that this episode turned out quite well, and I believe that it will be a great way to kick off the show. Right now, I’m on my way to finishing “Providence, Part 2”. ( Page 7 is on the way, right?). EAG (Aaron) has just started working on episode 1.05, which has been slated as “Treasure Trove”. I think this will be yet another great episode in the series. I will say that it has to do with what happened to some of the Ancients in the Caelum Galaxy. Adrian C., our third writer is on his way to finishing episode 1.04, called “Behemoth”, which deals with the main enemy of the series, the Malecathi. You’ll be surprised at the ending of this episode. Adrian and I thought it was actually kind of funny when we were first thinking of ways to end it. Terminus (Paul R.), our fourth writer, and beta reader, has been busy for the past week or so, but has promised to write 1.08 for us. I won’t give away the title of this episode, but I will say that it has many of the same elements as the episode “Wanderers”, which was scratched and replaced with this episode. We renamed it, well, because our new story for that episode didn’t really have anything to do with wandering at all. Our official concept artist, kirmit (Mike), is currently working on some sketches of the SGD team, and from his work that I’ve seen in the past, I think they will turn out pretty well. He has also said he will do some concept sketches of the Malecathi themselves, in addition to other things. We also have a part-time CG designer doing designs for us. His first work will be a 3D model of a Caelum Galaxy Stargate. Our CG designer is scorndrake, from the Stargate: The Alliance forum.

As for the forum, things are going very well. We currently have 14 members, which I think is pretty good for a forum about a show that hasn’t even premiered yet. Five of those fourteen are us staff, and the others are soon-to-be fans. EAG, our web admin and head administrator on the forum, has done a wonderful job with the forum, and it looks absolutely marvelous. Much of what you see in the forum design itself is his doing. (Great job, EAG). In addition to a section on Stargate: Destiny, we also have sections on the rest of the Stargate franchise, a Fan-Creations section, where you can find three more Stargate spin-offs, and much more. If you haven’t checked out the forum, do so at http://stargatedestiny.proboards55.com/index.cgi . You’ll find a lot of up to date information on the series there, as well as some art and designs.

As far as the website goes, we’re planning to launch it several weeks before the pilot episode premieres. It, also thanks to EAG, looks great so far, and will contain such pages as a cast and crew biography page, where you can find out about the production crew, and the cast of the virtual show, a BTS (behind the scenes) page, and image gallery, and a great links section, plus many more. As far as we know, the site will be known as stargatedestiny.net. We’ve found what we think is our potential hosting service, which is US based, and pretty cheap, too.

On a personal note, school starts up here on Tuesday, and I will be attending high school as a sophomore. Also, my birthday is this month, so just make your checks out to Geoff Hill. I saw the movie “Space Odyssey 2001” this week, and I have to say, it was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.

Concerning a premiere date for Stargate: Destiny, we, as of yet, don’t have an exact date, although we do think that SGD will premiere with “Providence, Part 1” sometime late this year, or early next year. When the pilot premieres, it will be released over two weeks, just like a normal two-parter.

Well, that’s pretty much it for now. I’ll get back to writing here. I’ll be back soon with another update.

Until next time,
Geoff

The Stargate Destiny Forum

Well the past week or so, myself and Geoff have been working on the Stargate Destiny Forum. I'm the guy responsible for designing and creating the website among other jobs but I'm here to talk to your about creating the website today. The first thing I had to do when designing the layout for the site was to take in acount what the website was to be about and since it was to be about a spin-off to Stargate SG-1 basically, I design it with that in mind.

The menu needed an episode guide, information about the crew and I just add on the relivate information like information on the characters, links to forums and this blog. Once I have decided what links to use I set about creating the images. All my websites have the same sort of ideas like those menu images and I just used the blogs banner to create those, the main hassle I had was creating the banner to fit the layout all together as I had all the coding done.

Well that's it for the moment as I'm tired but I'll explain more later.
-Aaron Percival

The Characters...

Every show needs good characters, right? Well, I think it's about time I made a post about the characters here. Below are their names, and their roles on Stargate: Destiny.

- Main Characters -

Brigadier General Peter Barrows
The Destiny's CO (commanding officer). He spends most of his time on the bridge, and rarely leaves the vessel.

Lt. Colonel Alexandra Hemmingway
Originally the XO (executive officer) of the Destiny, she was picked by General Barrows to lead the first mission in the Caelum Galaxy, and now serves as leader of Destiny-1.

Commander Tenyris Nalar
A Talloran, Commander Nalar and his crew were rescued by the Destiny and her crew only minutes after the Destiny's arrival in the Caelum Galaxy. He now acts as a guide to the crew, and serves as second in command of Destiny-1.

Jonas Quinn
All avid Stargate fans know about Jonas Quinn, only we see him ten years older here. He accepted a position among the crew as political tensions eased on Langara. He now serves as a civilian scientist on Destiny-1.

Lieutenant Takeshi Hasegawa
A brilliant Japanese-American officer, he is the Destiny's chief engineer. He headed up the design team for the Destiny project in 2010, and now serves on Destiny-1 as well.

- Recurring Characters -

Major Nick Connors - The Destiny's CAG (Commander of the Air Group) and a great fighter pilot.

Doctor Elizabeth Lancaster - The vessel's chief medical officer. She will occasionally lead the Destiny's medical team.

Doctor Teleri (Sek'vesh) - A Tok'ra hyperdrive speicalist who works in engineering with Lieutenant Hasegawa.

Major Jake Williams - Leader of Destiny-2.

These are all pretty short descriptions, but don't despair, Aaron (aka Elite Anubis guard), who is my Script Supervisor, also has some great talent with web design, and is currently designing a Stargate: Destiny website. There will be much more information on characters and episodes there. Although I don't know when the site will be launched, I can say it will be soon. I just thought I should drop in to give another update, so there you have it.

I also should mention that the Stargate: Destiny production team has gained another member in the last month. Our new member will be occasionally writing an episode, and will do beta reading.

Until next time,
Geoff

Just an Update

Hey there, everyone. I know it has been a while since the last update here, so I figured I'd fill you in on what has been going on. Right now, I myself am working on the Pilot of the show. It is still undecided whether we should release it as a two-parter or in 'movie' format like Stargate Atlantis' "Rising". In addition to the Pilot, I am also working out the last kinks in "Friendly Fire", slated to be episode 1.03. My other team member, whose name I do not feel I have the liberty to disclose, is currently writing "Behemoth", slated to be episode 1.04.

There really haven't been any big advancements with the show other than the fact that now we're actually getting down to writing. I'd say that we're making great progress, although we still aren't sure when the Pilot will be released. I have, though, been thinking about creating a forum for Stargate: Destiny, once the Pilot is out.

Anyway, I just thought I should give an update to those of you (cough Elite Anubis Guard cough) who might be interested in reading this. I'll try and get back when something significant is achieved, but until then,

Geoff

Episode Titles...

So, I said in my last post that I would be back soon with a couple episode titles that I am willing to give out. The following is a list of working titles for some of the season's early episodes:

Providence (Pilot - About as long as two normal episodes)
Friendly Fire
Behemoth
Treasure Trove
Lost, But Not Forgotten
Wanderers

Some of these, you may be able to guess what they are about, and some not. I just figure it's about time that I give a bit more info on the actual episodes...

Currently, we're working on Providence, but we don't have an idea as to when it will be published.

Until Next Time,
Geoff

Just What is This Stargate: Destiny Thing Anyway?

Well, hello there again. I realize it’s been a while since my last post on here, so I’ll get to something that I think I’ve neglected on here: That is actually giving you a bit more on what this series is actually about. Now, going back on the posts I have made, I realize that I haven’t gotten too in-depth on the actual plot of the whole show, so basically, that’s what this post is about.

I have already briefly mentioned that this series mostly takes place on a starship, but I only subtly mentioned that this ship’s name is Destiny, for which the show is partly named. I also thought that Stargate: Destiny was a fitting name because it is about the destiny of the Ancients, which I have to say wasn’t in their favor. This ship is the most advanced vessel ever built by earth, and is nearly a third of a kilometer in length. It is armed like a battleship, but is meant for exploration, making it a truly remarkable all-purpose vessel.

On this starship, whose classification is XC-314, there are over 500 (actually closer to 600) people from many countries across earth, as well as some from other worlds, both in the Milky Way and Caelum Galaxies. Each of these people were hand-picked for the extensive mission to the Caelum Galaxy because they are the best that earth has to offer (this is, at least for the humans onboard). Onboard are personnel whose specialties are everything from astrophysics and molecular biology to marine combat and fighter piloting.

Now, why is the Destiny sent to the Caelum Galaxy? Well put simply, the Destiny and its crew are on a mission to seek out the Ancients, who left for this galaxy just under ten thousand years ago. Here is the slightly more complex version: About ten thousand years ago, the Ancients in Atlantis were forced into returning to earth after being besieged in their great city for many years by the Wraith, in the Pegasus Galaxy. Though, not all of these Ancients intended on staying in earth for the rest of their lives. Determined to let rekindle their civilization, a small group of these Ancients broke off from the rest and put all of their efforts into traveling to a distant galaxy in order to start over. Within several hundred years, these Ancients had succeeded in building a large vessel, capable of traveling to the distant Caelum Galaxy, where they planned to settle and grow once again. And finally, this group of Ancients left earth, while under Goa’uld attack, and were pursued to the edge of the solar system by Ra’s Goa’uld forces, who controlled earth at the time. In fact, it would be this battle, recorded in a temple by Ra’s forces that would one day be the first clue as to where the Ancients went. So, the Ancients arrive in the Caelum Galaxy and set up camp by building a small Starbase with what supplies they were able to bring along. In addition, they are befriended by the Malecathi, who would’ve been at that time only about 100 years ahead of modern day earth in technology. Basically, the rest of what happens there can be read in my last post.

Now, jump about 10,000 years into the future, to about 2010, actually. Construction on the Destiny has just begun, and it has not yet been give either a mission for the future, nor a commander. Half a world away in Egypt, a team of scientists discovers a secret Egyptian chamber that has lain in secret for nearly 10,000 years. Inside, they find writings that tell of a battle over the southern pole that took place long ago between the forces of Ra, the sun god, and the last of the Builders of Roads. This information leads to the formation of an expedition, whose purpose is to find the site where this battle was fought. Well, as you might guess, they do, and a whole new world is opened up. As scientists of the Stargate program piece together information, they finally discover where the Ancients went, and why, and that the only means of following them is by ship, since the Ancients made it impossible to dial Caelum from outside, well, the Caelum Galaxy.

Within five years, the construction on the Destiny is finished, and a top notch crew is put together to go on the adventure of a lifetime. And that’s just the slightly more complex version.

Currently, my writing staff, which is actually one other person and I, are in the process of planning the rest of the season, and writing of the episodes should start very soon. I should be back soon with more information, and I might just then be at liberty to disclose a few episode titles.

Until then,
Geoff

The Enemy Approaches...

Hey I'm back. This is a topic that has been changing since I first had the idea for this series. Warning! The Following Contains SPOILERS for SG-1's Season 9!

Every Stargate series, official or fan-based, has a big enemy. It's a must for every
spin-off series. For SG-1, it was the Goa'uld, and will soon be the Ori, for Atlantis, it's the Wraith, for Stargate: Horizon, the series that inspired me to actually do something with mine, it's the ascendant empire, and for the first couple of months that I was creating ideas for Stargate: Destiny, the big enemy was the Anterac. These guys were just baddies who I had not really developed at all. I figured that that would come later. But soon enough, I was convinced by a member over at Gateworld Forum to change the name of the enemy. This member said it sounded too similar to Enteric, or something along those lines, which had something to do with the intestinal track. So, I had to find a new name for the enemy... but what?

In early 2005, I came up with the name 'Dalomir', which I thought was actually pretty cool at the time. I'm not exactly sure how I came up with this name, I just liked it. And this time, the enemy was a bit more developed than the Anterac.

The Dalomir were Ancients from the Caelum Galaxy who had discovered a way to 'descend', rather than ascend, as normal Ancients did. In their descended form, the Dalomir had the power of the ascended, but were not restricted to use them. It was this that drove the normal Ancients to war against them. But in the end, the Dalomir massacred the Ancients. But only a few months later, word of the new enemy that producers were planning for SG-1's season nine reached my ears. The guys were called the Oree, no wait, the Orii, oh, thats right, it's Ori. (One I! ::Holds up two fingers::) Ok, back to topic. These guys were said to be evil ascended ancients from another galaxy. They would be more powerful than the Goa'uld or anyone we had ever seen. Basically, I felt that the line between 'Evil Ascended' and 'Descended' was too fine, and I was once again forced to change not only the name of my enemy, but the whole thing! Damn you Stargate! No, what did I say?!?!?

So for several more weeks, I pondered... What could the new name of my enemy be. Then, suddenly it hit me. Out of nowhere one day I pulled the name 'Malecathi'. (Sounds evil, doesn't it?) Bascially, these guys are uber-bad, and are bascially bent on the extinction of all humans, because they feel that as long as one human lives, the legacy of the Ancients still lives on. And seeing that these guys were long-time enemies of the Ancients... well you get it. I don't have much of a backstory on these guys, but perhaps, for right now at least, I don't need one. Perhaps adding a certain unknown to the show will make it even better. At least, that's what I'm going with right now.

So bascially, here's what I have and am willing to say on the Malecathi:
The Malecathi were in the Caelum Galaxy long before the Ancients went there from earth about 10,000 years ago. They weren't as advanced then as they are now, and it is suspected that they first sought a treaty with the Ancients, and wanted to form an alliance. Although the Ancients were far superior as far as technology went, the Malecathi (and it is unlikely that this was their name back then) were far greater in number. This treaty proposed by the Malecathi was accepted by the Ancients, and their friendship lasted for several thousand years. Over this time, the Ancients grew in number, and even tought the Malecathi things such as how to construct more advanced vessels, cure harmful diseases, and even build Stargates. But somehow, about 6,000 years ago, the Ancient civilization very rapidly declined, and at the same time, historical records that still exist show that the Malecathi suddenly increased in both technlogy and number. Now it doesn't exactly take a rocket scientist to figure out what happened...

Now, the Malecathi are one of the most, if not THE most dangerous enemy we have encountered. Their territory consists of a large chunk of the Caelum Galaxy, and are challenged by few (but don't worry, they are challenged quite a bit). Their largest ships, Onslaught Cruisers are extremely massive (on the order of 10-12 km n length) and just one can lay siege to entire sectors if gone unchallenged. That right there might just give you a little insight into their power.

So, from the Anterac to the Dalomir to the Malecathi, the enemy has alerady played a huge role in Stargate: Destiny. And don't be surprised if you ever see those other names, like Dalomir and Anterac, popping up somewhere else in the Stargate: Destiny universe.

Stargate on a Ship

One of the first problems I ran into with this show, seeing that it involved both activity on a ship and through the stargate, was how to to incorporate both at the same time. As we learned in the SG-1 episode episode "Within the Serpent's Grasp", Stargates cannot be activated, nor can they recieve incoming wormholes in the middle of deep space. For Stargates to work, in this galaxy at least, they must either be on a planet, or in the orbit of one. And I didn't want the crew of the Destiny to be so confined that they had to be in orbit of a planet when using the Stargate. This was the main problem.

At least it was until about December of 2004, when I really began to develop ideas, most of which are still used in this series today. Basically, the Ancients put a 'program', if you will, into each Stargate, that gave the Stargates themselves unique addresses. In this galaxy, as well as the Pegusas Galaxy, where Stargate: Atlantis takes place, planets have their own addresses. This made problems on several occasions for SG-1, when either earth, or another planet had more than one Stargate.

So bascially, that was how I made it plausible that the crew of the Destiny could use their Stargate, no matter where they were in the Caelum Galaxy. But there was yet another problem. I couldn't just say, "The Ancients put a fancy program in the stargates that did some fancy stuff". I had to say why. But actually, this was actually much easier than coming up with HOW this was possible. One of the ideas that I had recently come up with was that when the Ancients arrived in Caelum, they set up camp on a starbase, constructed with materials they had brought with them, rather than a planet. Since the Ancients first lived in this galaxy on a starbase, which would've been nowhere near a planet, it made sense that their Stargate would be able to operate in deep space.

So that's pretty much it for now. I'll be back.

- Geoff

A Few Corrections

So, apparentely my link to gateworld forum doesn't work, so for those of you who are interested in seeing my original thoughts with Stargate: Destiny, all you have to do is go to http://www.google.com, and type in "stargate: the caleum chronicles". Click on the first result, and it will take you there. I think the reason that the direct link to gateworld doesn't work is because that post was deleted a long time ago. But if you want, you can go get a kick out of reading my old material here: http://http://forum.gateworld.net/showthread.php?t=4930.

Now, most of my ideas are pretty solid, and currently, Stargate: Destiny is in the production phase. You can find a lot of my updated information here, at the Stargate Horizon forum: http://http://stargatehorizon.proboards23.com/index.cgi?board=Allthingscreative&action=display&thread=1107838493.

Well, thats all I really have time for now, but I will have another post up soon.

- Geoff
