Butterflies Suck

Although it aired to positive feedback, "The Wings of a Butterfly" was such a chore for me to write. It was the episode I disliked the most - and I was the one who pitched it. At first I thought it'd be cool because of all the different things an alternate universe episode would allow me to do but in the end it was that aspect that turned me off.

In the end, I didn't like that nothing I did in this episode mattered. For the most part this episode forshadowed the rest of the season and that's all it really did. As much as I'd love to go into details, I'd rather not spoil you.

One thing which was fun was that I got to include the Atauians (originally the Steruc, who you'll see next week :-P). So far, no-one seems to have picked up on the Atauians being back. They were in "I Think, Therefore...".

Anyway, with 1x15 we finished our third quarter. I think it's fantastic, my episode ended the third quarter and another of mine will start the fourth. That's quality entertainment. I think our comeback from our looooonnnnnggggggg hiatus has been excellent. "The Vennix" was an excellent return which also spread out new story branches. "What's In A Name" was a lovely Destiny debut for Harry Martin who provided us with an entertaining stand alone episode.

And of course, "Lonely Echoes". I think I'll take a moment to brag about that. I'm so glad that people loved it, it was the sort of script that made me really love writing. Not only was it enjoyable but it got tones of feedback and that made me smile. And of course, Adrian Curtis, a fan favorite returned with "Belly of the Beast" another of those Malecathi episodes he so often writes.

Overall, the third quarter was fantastic and our second half has been so much stronger than the first, not only because we've learnt the ropes but because of the sort of storytelling you'll notice popping up once the season ends. We've managed to interlink alot of the episodes throughout the season which I really think helps bring the episodes together. It gives it that connected feel that Atlantis and DS9 had.

I'm dying to spoil the fourth quarter for you but Boss would kill me. Just look forward to enjoying Josh's debut episode and Adrian's whumping heavy episode. This is Aaron Percival, signing off.
